One of the huge horse racing events every year is finally rolling in a few months. The first day of the two-day event will start on November 3, 2023 (Friday) at the iconic Santa Anita Park in California. There will be 14 Grade Championship races that will take place in the Breeders Cup event with a total purse and awards of  $31 million. So everyone looks forward to what type of horses will gather for this event, especially the most expensive race, the Classic.

Out of all the contenders, a few horses stand out. To reel you in, here are the top five favorites for the Classic that you should look into.

Arcangelo

Arcangelo is undoubtedly one of the best horses running for the Santa Anita Field for the Breeders Cup Classic this season. You’ll be surprised by its overwhelming TVG breeders cup odds, though it’s not entirely surprising, especially after his excellent performance this year.

For starters, Arcangelo completed five starts this year alone, where he finished in first place in huge horse racing events, such as the 2023 Peter Pan, and one of the legs of the Triple Crown for thoroughbred horses, the 2023 Belmont Stakes. Also, he proceeded to conquer the 2023 Travers Stakes right after the Belmont, which he won.

Due to this, his betting odds are through the roof. So, it’s no wonder many fans are looking forward to how he will win over the other horses.

Arabian Knight

Next on the list is Arabian Knight, sired by Uncle Mo, also a former contender of the Breeders Cup Classic in 2011. This time, Arabian Knight will take on the challenge, and he’s one of the top favorites for the Classic this season.

Arabian Knight has already achieved incredible feats out of his four starts since his first professional race last year. To mention a few, one is how he won the 2023 Pacific Classic (G1). This success was unseen since Del Mar’s 32-year history signature race. Due to this, many horse racing fans are looking forward to how he will also run for the Classic this season.

Geaux Rocket Ride

Another of the most impressive horses you’ll meet in the Breeders Cup Classic is Geaux Rocket Rocket Ride, a bay colt from Kentucky. Geaux Rocket Ride only started racing this year but has already participated in five horse racing events. In these five starts, he finished in first place thrice and in third place twice, namely in the 2023 Affirmed (LS) and the 2023 Haskell Stakes (G1).

Also, Geaux Rocket Ride already had a run against Arabian Knight in the 2023 Pacific Classic (G1), where he only finished in second place. In the upcoming Breeders Cup Classic, the two will also face each other again this year, and fans couldn’t be more excited to see these two compete with each other again in another huge event this November.

White Abbario

In this list, White Abarrio has the most races participated throughout his career. So far, he has been in 14 starts since 2021, four of which are in 2023. In four of his races, he won two of them and finished in third place once.

His experience can be his biggest edge, and he can apply all of his experiences so far into the Classic to have a better chance of winning the event. It’s maybe for this same season that fans and horse racing enthusiasts look forward to how White Abarrio will perform this time.

Bright Future

Bright Future is maybe the oldest horse in the favorites in this list. Though he was foaled in 2019, he only started racing last year in 2022. In his year of experience, he had already participated in seven races, won four, and finished in third place twice. Although his debut came a bit late compared to the other horses, it was instead a dazzling debut, where he won the one-mile maiden particular weight race at the Gulfstream Park.

The beautiful colt didn’t proceed to the 2022 Triple Crown races after his debut. Rather than rush towards this highly competitive series of races, Bright Future raced at Belmont Park in an allowance-optional claiming race. Coach Todd Pletcher explained that they plan to develop into a good horse carefully.

After the allowance race, the horse-faced a few issues that resulted in his time off. Fans now can’t wait to see how this curlin will show off for the Breeders Cup Classic.
